The Thriving Hive offers a Queen bee ordering service. We're offering Italian, Caucasian, Cordovan and Tiger (hybrid) mated queens. All our queen breeders are located in QLD and are varroa free.

We supply all our queen bees from reputable breeders and livestock are bred for hygiene, calm temperament and are disease and varroa free. All queens are mated queens and  marked.

The cordovan queens share genetics with tested stock from a Varroa-resistant breeding program, and have a very strong laying pattern with good honey production. 

Tiger queens are a hybrid Caucasian and Italian. The hybrid genetics mean the queen is more likely to be accepted by a very defensive hive during a requeening activity and are exceptionally good at calming down a very defensive hive.

Advice and support to replace a queen or split a hive is offered to beekeepers who may be buying a queen bee for the first time, or are building confidence with managing their colonies. 

The Queen bees shown in images are a Caucasian queen bee (darker markings) and Italian queen bee. No images of the Cordovan or Tiger available but when we can spot them and get the camera out easily enough - one will be loaded!

Please place your order prior to Saturday 5pm for your queen to be posted the following Monday/Tuesday*. We can often supply queens on very short notice (24 hours) but this is dependent on spare queens after the week's orders have gone out. Call/Email us if you need one urgently and we'll see what we can do!

Our queen bee breeders are based in Queensland and whilst we can mail bees to other parts of Australia (see below for current restrictions); transportation of bees is at all times complies with directives under biosecurity regulations, shipping rules and/or emergency orders.

As at 4 August 2025, we do not ship into Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania, or Western Australia due to biosecurity regulations. Northern Territory requires a health certificate which is an additional $75 per queen. 

We DO ship to NSW and ACT - into both the suppression and management control zones. Please note if you are located in NSW and wish to move your hives, you must comply with the Control Order as per NSW DPI.

*Note we only ship Monday to Wednesday as Australia Post does not guarantee next day delivery and we've had queens perish before as they sit in an transit depot for too long.
